Review :
A ghostly school tale with not enough class.
Whispering Corridors is yet another in a long line of Asian horrors, one so popular that it has spawned four sequels (at the time of writing) and I'm sure already has many fans. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them.
It tells the story of a ghost haunting a school and along the way we get to see friendships develop and wear away between teenage girls, some assisted "suicide", abusive teaching methods and the usual build up of revelations on the way to a tense finale . . . . . well, what should be a tense finale.
Whispering Corridors failed, for me, on many levels. The acting was okay for the most part but nothing special, the direction from Ki-hyeong Park never seemed to effectively display the scares and the story is full of elements we're all now far too familiar with.
Personally, I'd recommend that people give this one a miss but the annoying thing is that I will now be checking out all of the sequels because curiosity always gets the better of me.
See this if you like: Dark Water, Phone, Cello.
